One of the less appreciated aspects of DNAC/Assurance is the fact that you can push lots of network information down to the helpdesk. It uses that information to tell you about issues it has detected but doesn't offer charts and graphs for your own analysis. On the downside, DNAC doesn't offer much as far as Netflow and Syslog. It finds and offers fix suggestions for a large number of wired issues as well. It will consolidate logs from ISE and the WLCs to make short work of figuring out why people can't get on to the network. If you have ISE and supported WLCs, DNAC makes diagnosing wireless problems a snap. IOS-XE 9K devices are very well supported, others to varying degrees. Devices have been added into Cisco DNA and Cisco Prime, but neither is really customized or used as a tool.Ĭan Cisco DNA be customized to effectively monitor this environment, without the users needing to know much about Cisco DNA? How well does it work in regards to monitoring Cisco ASA devices (SNMP and Syslog)?ĭNAC is crazy effective as long as you're using it with supported equipment. To my amazement, right now only ICMP monitoring is used with WUG. Off the top of my head, this includes Cisco devices running IOS, NX-OS, IOS XE (6500, NX7k, NX5k, 9300, 3750 switches - Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco 1000x ASR, 4400 Routers - Cisco WLC & LWAPs Cisco ISE.). This isnt a real large network, probably around 500ish devices. I am working at a place now that has Cisco DNA, its my first exposure to this product, is it the new and improved Cisco Prime? I know even Prime could give you device health stats, but it just wasnt a great interface to use as a network monitor, something that you can build easy to read dashboards that even your help desk team(s) can utlize. I have worked for many places that spend money on applications like Cisco Prime (formely Ciscoworks) thinking it was Cisco's version of Solarwinds/WUG/etc for monitoring overall network health. I am curious if Cisco DNA is effective when it comes to Network Monitoring, or is it more of a Cisco inventory management/provisioning/automation platform?
